From Puerto Rico to Bee Casa: A Story of Art, Nature & Home
Hi, I’m Tifa Feliciano—founder of Bee Casa and a lifelong creator.
My creative journey began at 15 in the vibrant barrios of Puerto Rico, inspired by the ocean and guided by the strong, resilient spirit I learned from my incredible single mom. Like a worker bee, I was always busy creating, collecting treasures from the beach, crafting handmade jewelry and homewares, and immersing myself in drawing. Inspired deeply by the rich symbolism of Taino cultural art, creativity became my way to stay connected to something much older and deeper.
Soon, I was selling my handmade creations in the busy markets of Old San Juan, becoming one of the youngest artists in the scene. After three unforgettable summers of hustle, art, and community, I was ready for a change—something new—so I moved to the US at 18.
A New Landscape, A New Kind of Creativity: Inspired by Nature's Beauty
In the Pacific Northwest, the majestic mountains and misty forests sparked a newfound energy in me. As I traveled down the coast, my handmade pieces evolved with each new landscape—from lush green forests to golden California skies.
During this period, I discovered crochet, not just as another creative outlet, but as a mindful practice that allowed me to slow down, be present, and appreciate my surroundings. While working on a small farm, I learned about bees and started crocheting little bees as playful symbols of the intentional, vibrant home I dreamed of building. These crocheted bees became my symbolic first steps into a deeper connection with bees, setting the stage for what would one day become Bee Casa.
Where Bee Casa Was Born: Organic Beeswax Candles Handcrafted in Malibu
It was 2020, on a small coastal farm in Southern California, that I truly fell in love with honeybees and beeswax. I had one of those still moments of clarity one night, sitting around the fire with friends: the way the gentle dance of a flame gathers us together but also pulls us inwards, makes us slow down, breathe, and reconnect.
That moment became the heart of Bee Casa.
Today, every Bee Casa candle I create is an intentional piece of that vision—a handcrafted love letter to nature, carefully crafted in small batches using 100% locally sourced, organic beeswax from the sun-kissed hills of Malibu. Each artisan candle honors bees, the earth, and the art of being present.
Bee Casa means “bee” or “to be” and “home”. A gentle reminder to stay grounded, reconnect with yourself, and create a sanctuary wherever you are.
When you light a Bee Casa candle, you embrace a healthier, sustainable, and more intentional way of feeling at home in the world. With every flame, I hope you feel a little more connected.
From mi casa to tu casa—
Welcome to the Bee Casa family.
With love,
Tifa
